“Clues for Change” – Erasmus+ training in Kolín, Czechia focused on educational escape boxes
01/11/2025 – 09/11/2025 Kolín, Czech Republic

At the beginning of November, youth workers, educators, and changemakers from Czechia, Poland, Serbia, Italy, Spain, Greece, Germany, and Malta gathered in the town of Kolín, Czechia, for Clues for Change—a dynamic 7-day Erasmus+ training course focused on using interactive escape boxes as innovative educational tools.
A New Way to Learn Through Play
The training explored the concept of edutainment—combining education and entertainment to make learning more engaging, meaningful, and memorable. Over the week, participants discovered how escape-room-style challenges can be transformed into impactful tools for addressing serious social topics such as:
- Human rights
- Racism and discrimination
- Radicalisation and extremism
Through hands-on sessions, teamwork, and creative problem-solving, participants learned how interactive experiences can spark reflection, raise awareness, and encourage dialogue among young people.
From Idea to Reality: Building Educational Escape Boxes
One of the main goals of Clues for Change was not just to understand escape boxes but to build them from scratch. Participants worked in small international teams to design functional escape boxes, complete with:
- Engaging scenarios
- Original puzzles and challenges
- Clear guidelines and educational objectives
By the end of the course, each team tested their prototype with other groups, receiving feedback and refining their toolkits. These ready-to-use materials can now be implemented directly in participants’ local communities, youth centers, schools, and NGOs.
Objectives of the Training
The programme was designed to:
- Educate participants in designing and implementing interactive escape boxes for learning.
- Introduce the edutainment approach to enhance youth engagement.
- Raise awareness on human rights, racism, and radicalisation.
- Support the creation, testing, and refinement of functional escape box toolkits.
- Empower participants to adapt and spread these methods within their organisations for long-term impact.

An International Space for Creativity and Change
With participants representing eight countries across Europe, the training offered a rich intercultural environment. Through shared experiences, discussions, and collaborative creation, the group built not only educational tools but also new partnerships and friendships that will support future initiatives.
