Erasmus+ training in Křižanov, Czechia focused on outdoor and sport activities and how they can foster learning, teamwork, and intercultural exchange
05/07/2025 – 13/07/2025 Křižanov, Czech Republic

This training course was held at a recreation centre in Křižanov, Czech Republic between dates 5th and 13th July 2025 and brought together young people and youth workers from Czechia, Turkey, Serbia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovenia, Spain, and Italy. Over the course of one week, participants explored how outdoor and sport activities can foster learning, teamwork, and intercultural exchange. Most sessions took place outdoors, but when rain arrived, we simply adapted and moved the program inside. Throughout the week, we experienced a wide variety of activities. An orienteering challenge had teams navigate with maps to locate ten hidden checkpoints. Geocaching introduced us to GPS-based treasure hunts, while a full-day hike to the stunning rock formation Devět skal provided time for conversation, reflection, and connection with nature. Sports played a role every day. We enjoyed traditional volleyball matches as well as non-traditional games such as ring throwing, relay challenges, and even GPS drawing. Short morning warm-ups ensured that everyone stayed active, energised, and safe. Creativity was another key element of the program. In workshop sessions, mixed international groups designed their own educational games and tested them with the full group. Participants also developed project concepts that could evolve into future Erasmus+ youth exchanges and training courses. Evenings were dedicated to cultural exchange. Each national team organised an “intercultural night,” where they shared food, dance, music, and stories from their home countries. These warm and welcoming evenings helped break stereotypes and build lasting friendships.

The project clearly demonstrated how well-designed outdoor and sport activities can teach navigation, cooperation, resilience, and respect in an engaging and memorable way. Participants left with new methods, practical project ideas, and strong friendships across Europe—ready to share and apply what they had learned in their own communities.
