“Media EduLab”Erasmus+ Training Course 29/11/2025 – 7/12/2025 Kolín, Czech Republic

In an era where information travels faster than ever, the ability to understand, question, and responsibly use media has become an essential skill. Responding to this need, the Erasmus+ training course “Media EduLab” took place in Kolín, Czech Republic, from 29 November to 7 December 2025, bringing together youth workers from across Europe for an intensive learning experience focused on media literacy and educational practice.

The 7-day course was fully funded by the Erasmus+ Programme and created a space for participants to deepen their understanding of how media affects everyday life, public opinion, and young people’s decision-making. At the same time, it offered concrete tools for designing meaningful and engaging learning activities in non-formal education settings.

A Practical Approach to Media Literacy

Rather than focusing solely on theory, Media EduLab emphasized active participation and real-life application. Participants explored how news, advertising, and social media content are created and distributed, learning to recognize manipulation techniques, hidden agendas, and misinformation. Through analysis, debate, and reflection, they developed a more critical approach to consuming and sharing media.

Digital safety was another key element of the programme. Participants discussed responsible online behavior, privacy, and the challenges young people face in digital spaces, gaining strategies they can apply both personally and professionally.

Strengthening Educational Skills

Alongside media literacy, the training strongly focused on education session design. Participants were introduced to the principles of non-formal education, experiential learning, and learner-centered approaches. Special attention was given to Kolb’s experiential learning cycle, allowing participants to practice designing sessions that encourage reflection, experimentation, and active involvement.

Working in international teams, participants co-created educational activities and learning materials, tested them during the training, and refined them based on feedback. This process helped transform ideas into ready-to-use tools for youth work and educational projects.

European Exchange and Collaboration

Media EduLab welcomed participants from Poland, Spain, Italy, Malta, Denmark, Portugal, and Estonia. The diversity of backgrounds and experiences enriched discussions and fostered intercultural learning. Sharing different national contexts and professional perspectives helped participants better understand the common challenges and opportunities related to media literacy across Europe.

Beyond skill development, the training strengthened networks and encouraged future cooperation between organizations and youth workers, reinforcing the European dimension of the Erasmus+ Programme.

Lasting Impact

By the end of the training, participants left Kolín with enhanced confidence, practical competences, and a renewed motivation to address media literacy in their work with young people. Media EduLab served as a reminder that critical thinking, responsible media use, and well-designed learning experiences are essential tools for empowering the next generation in today’s digital society.
