Erasmus+ training in Kolín, Czechia focused on gender equality tools for inclusion training
28/06/2025 – 06/07/2025 Kolín, Czech Republic

As June faded into July, the quiet town of Kolín, Czech Republic, came alive with conversation, curiosity, and connection. In a cozy training venue nestled near the Elbe River, a diverse group of youth workers and youth leaders from Czechia, Estonia, Denmark, the Netherlands, Croatia, Poland, Spain, and Slovakia gathered not just to learn—but to question, explore, and reimagine how gender equality can be woven more deeply into youth work.
They had come for “Get It! – Gender Equality Tools for Inclusion Training,” an Erasmus+ project focused on equipping youth professionals with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to mainstream gender in their work with young people.
Rethinking Gender Through Non-Formal Education
Unlike traditional courses, “Get It!” embraced a non-formal learning approach—inviting participants to engage with the topic through interactive workshops, group reflection, creative exercises, and real-life case studies. The program was designed not only to deepen understanding of gender equality and social inclusion, but also to strengthen practical skills for addressing these issues in everyday youth work.
From simulation games and visual storytelling to role-play, debates, and open dialogue, each day offered something new. Participants explored how gender norms shape the lives of young people and challenged their own assumptions in a supportive, multicultural setting.
What We Aimed to Achieve
The training had four main objectives:
- To broaden participants’ understanding of gender equality and gender-based inclusion
- To develop practical competencies for gender mainstreaming in youth work
- To introduce creative and innovative tools for addressing gender in non-formal settings
- To create a space for open reflection, dialogue, and intercultural learning around gender issues
Throughout the training, participants shared insights from their home countries, highlighting both common challenges and unique cultural perspectives. This exchange of ideas enriched the learning experience and sparked meaningful conversations about identity, power, and inclusion.

More Than a Training—A Launchpad for Action
By the end of the course, the participants didn’t just leave with toolkits or notes—they left with new perspectives, renewed motivation, and a strong network of fellow youth workers committed to making gender equality a reality in their communities.
“Get It!” wasn’t about finding quick answers—it was about asking better questions, becoming more aware, and learning how to take inclusive action in youth work that reflects the complexity and diversity of today’s world.
