Erasmus+ Training Course “Youth Forward”
06/04/2024 – 14/04/2024 Kolín, Czech Republic

In CEFIG, we believe in the power of young people to shape the future. That’s why we were so excited to host “Youth Forward,” a training course supported by the Erasmus+ program. This project brought together passionate participants from seven European countries. These participants included youth workers, teachers, and NGO staff, all eager to learn how to get young people more involved in their communities.

Understanding Youth Participation

One of the main goals of “Youth Forward” was to help everyone understand what youth participation really means. Over the course of the training, participants learned about the principles, levels, and different aspects of youth participation. This learning process sparked some great discussions about how young people can play an active role in making their communities better places.

But it wasn’t just about learning definitions; it was about inspiring participants to think about how they can take real action.

Why and How Young People Get Involved

Another key part of the training was exploring why young people decide to get involved in their communities and how to encourage them to do so. Through workshops and group talks, participants shared their ideas and experiences. They discussed the many ways young people can make a difference, whether through volunteering, speaking up for change, or starting their own projects.

This part of the course was especially valuable because it allowed participants to learn from each other’s experiences and gain new ideas they could take back to their own communities.

Sharing Ideas Across Countries

One of the best parts of “Youth Forward” was the chance for participants to share their own ideas and practices related to youth participation. Coming from different countries and backgrounds, each participant brought something unique to the table. This created a rich environment where everyone could learn from each other.

The exchange of ideas was not just about learning new things; it also helped build a sense of connection and support among the group. Despite their different backgrounds, everyone shared a common goal: empowering young people to take the lead.

Learning New Tools and Methods

The training also introduced participants to various tools and methods that can help promote youth participation. They learned about different ways to engage young people, from using digital tools to organizing creative workshops.

This practical part of the course was very popular among participants. As one participant said, “The program was very informative and interesting.” With these new skills, participants are now better equipped to encourage youth participation in their own communities.

Exploring Erasmus+ and Other Opportunities

In addition to learning about youth participation, participants also learned more about the Erasmus+ program and other opportunities that can help support their work. This part of the training was especially empowering, as it showed participants how they can use these programs to start new projects and create positive change.

By the end of the course, participants were not only inspired but also ready to take action, knowing that they have the support and resources they need.

Reflecting on the Experience

As the training course came to an end, participants shared their thoughts on the experience. One participant said, “I feel extremely grateful 🥹 This project was not only about the specific knowledge but also about my self-development.” This feedback shows that “Youth Forward” was more than just a learning opportunity; it was also a chance for personal growth.

Another participant mentioned, “It was useful, impactful, and well organized,” highlighting how much they valued the course.

The “Youth Forward” training course was a big success, and we’re so proud of what was accomplished. The participants left with new skills, a better understanding of youth participation, and connections with people from all over Europe. More importantly, they left with a renewed sense of purpose and the motivation to make a difference in their communities.

At our NGO, we’re committed to continuing this important work. “Youth Forward” is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact that will come from this project as participants put their new knowledge and inspiration into action.

We want to say a big thank you to everyone who helped make this project possible, from the dedicated trainers to the enthusiastic participants. Together, we’re helping young people take the lead in their communities—one step at a time.
